Bio
Louisa Powell is a DC based artist working from her backyard studio in Silver Spring, MD. She completed her undergraduate degree in Environmental Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and her Masters of Fine Art degree in sculpture from the University of Georgia.
After finishing school, Louisa started Carbon Rendered: a commission based, representational drawing business. Her intent was to provide an income for herself that might keep her abstract sculptural practice free from concern for commercial appeal. Fortunately, (or perhaps inevitably?), the ideas in her drawing work have evolved and begun to speak to the ideas in her more experimental, three-dimensional work. Louisa’s goal is to continue to push her drawing work toward complete assimilation with her sculptural work.
